Hudson Yards, the massive new development in Midtown Manhattan, has luxury shopping, fine dining and art exhibits. It is also one of the chilliest spots in New York City. While the development is only three blocks from the city’s central business district, the wind blowing off the Hudson River means the temperature at the complex can feel a few degrees cooler, workers there say. The new skyscrapers can also create wind tunnels, allowing strong breezes to bounce off their facades and gain strength.
