As a young Toronto constable, Andrew Hong would take his new wife, Jenny, to policing events and point to a group of officers. Those cops, Hong told her, were the elite group — a specialized crew of motorcycle officers known as the Winged Wheels. Early in his 22-year career with the Toronto police, Hong made it known to everyone that working in the force’s traffic services division was his dream. “His eyes would light up like lights and sirens every time he came home,” Jenny Hong told a sea of her husband’s grieving colleagues, gathered inside Etobicoke’s Toronto Congress Centre to honour him. After the ceremony, Ramer handed Jenny her husband’s forage cap, which had been sitting during the ceremony on Hong’s flag-draped casket.
