A five-time MLA, Jairam Thakur is the first chief minister from Himachal's Mandi district. At 52, Thakur is also the youngest chief minister of Himachal Pradesh in the last 25 years. He became the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh for a fifth time in December 2012 at the age of 78. With the two old warhorses, Prem Kumar Dhumal and Virbhadra Singh, losing the race, Himachal Pradesh got its youngest chief minister in 25 years--Jairam Thakur.
