Suitcases block the entrance to the Comfort Inn hotel in Pimlico, central LondonA group of asylum seekers has camped outside a hotel in central London for 48 hours in protest over the cramped living conditions inside. On Friday about 20 people could be seen on the pavement outside the three-star Comfort Inn in Pimlico with suitcases used to block the entrance. SponsoredThe protest began on Wednesday when, after being transferred from a hotel in Essex, about 40 asylum seekers were told their new accommodation would mean four people sharing a single room with two bunk beds. The group — from Iraq, Iran, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Bangladesh — have vowed to stay on the street until they are each given single rooms at the £153 a night central London hotel, which is listed online as “temporarily closed”.
