Astros’ first baseman ends eight-year home run drought, hits two against Angels

Houston Astros first baseman Jon Singleton played in just his 14th MLB game since the end of the 2015 season Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels. Against the Angels, Singleton accomplished a baseball feat on a MLB diamond for the first time in over eight years. Singleton launched a three-run home run in the second inning, his first home run in a Major League Baseball game since July 29, 2015. He returned to the big leagues earlier this season with the Milwaukee Brewers before being released after 11 games. “I’m really happy for him today,” Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander said, via MLB.com.
