The city has lowered the tax rate for 4 straight years. Killeen has been slammed by the veterans tax exemption. The city should trim expenses to the bone and cut staff, if needed, to keep taxes down. A smaller tax increase might be OK, but a more than 3-cent jump is unacceptable. I would need more details on what the increase is paying for.
