We are recruiting for an assistant editor, state news to join our newsroom as an integral part of the launch of Guardian Australia’s state news expansion. The assistant editor, state news will assist in the development and implementation of three new, geolocated state news sections for Guardian Australia in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Deputising for the state news editor as required, you will be involved in commissioning, planning and editing content from state correspondents and reporters, and coordinating the positioning of stories on the homepage. This role will suit an individual with experience in a breaking news environment with a good understanding of state news agendas in NSW, Queensland and Victoria, including state politics.
