Aspiring chess masters make the right move


Aspiring chess prodigies flocked the The Hindu In School Chess Competition held at the World Trade Centre in Cuffe Parade on Sunday. In the under-15 category, Anshu Singh, of Class IX, Oxford Public School, Kandivali, and Samyukta Banthia, of Class VIII, Bombay International School, Babulnath, bagged the first prize in the boys and girls category respectively. Advait Iyer, Gold Crest High School, Vashi, and Dia Jain, Gopi Birla Memorial School, Walkeshwar, won the under-9 first prize. Chief Guest Praful Zaveri, founder and managing director, Indian Chess School; special guest Subhash Pagare, branch manager LIC; and Rajababu Gajengi, secretary of the Mumbai City District Chess Association gave away the prizes. Associate sponsors were BPCL, LIC, LIC Housing finance, National Insurance and Syndicate Bank.
