Aslam is a resident of Manikdah village under Manikdah Union in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur. He was the former chairman of Manikdah Union Parishad and general secretary of Sadarpur upazila Jubo League. Earlier, on 25 September, 2013, Aslam and two others were awarded the death sentence by a Faridpur court in a case filed for killing Manikdah Union Parishad Chairman, AKM Saheb Ali Mridha. On that day, he sought presidential clemency and his death penalty was commuted to 14 years of imprisonment.
