Q My husband and I have a son in his forties. We thought things were fine, but it turned out she was drinking heavily, so she went for treatment. Although my son was heavily involved with her family, she seemed to change and rarely bothered with us. She persuaded my son to try IVF, which was successful. My son was pleased and attended antenatal visits, but didn’t feel fully involved because all the decisions were made by his girlfriend and her parents.
