The Shanghai Composite Index gained 2.4 per cent to 2,871.27 points and Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 added 0.7 per cent to 21,572.11. Sydney’s S&P-ASX 200 was off 2 points at 6,165.30 and Seoul’s Kospi shed 1 point to 2,229.73. The fight has threatened to disrupt global trade and weigh on economic growth that shows signs of slowing. Trump’s announcement should reassure financial markets, but stock price gains might be limited because investors already expected such a move, analysts said.
