Stocks in Asia edged higher on Monday morning as the final trading week of the year began, CNBC reports. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 gained by 0.32 percent while the Topix index advanced by 0.27 percent. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan traded 0.18 percent higher. Profits at Chinese industrial firms in November rose 15.5 percent as compared with a year earlier, according to data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics over the weekend. Markets in Australia and New Zealand are closed on Monday for a holiday.
