At least this much isn’t up for debate: women are drinking more than ever before in modern history. Though men still drink more, and more of them are considered “problem drinkers,” women are fast catching up. The question of why women are drinking more than ever, however, has become the hot topic of late summer 2016. Many women drink simply because they like it, and a piece discussing society at large does not, as a piece in Time suggested, somehow police that choice. Because maybe, just maybe, booze is an Instagram filter for all genders; intoxicants have always helped humanity cope with the oppression of existence.
