Ash Regan MSP said: "The Scottish Government’s decision to oppose my Prostitution (Offences and Support) (Scotland) Bill at Stage 1 represents a profound failure of political courage, moral clarity, and leadership on violence against women and girls. "Let me be absolutely clear: this Bill is grounded in the Scottish Government’s own stated policy. The Scottish Government is asking Parliament to vote against the principle of a Bill that reflects its own policy commitments. "This Bill would increase violence against women, and does nothing to tackle the underlying reasons why people enter sex work - primarily poverty. "This is nothing more than a moral crusade by Regan, and Scottish women should not have to pay the price for her ignorance."
