Our Special CorrespondentNew Delhi: The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday witnessed the unusual sight of almost everyone supporting the stated objective behind the instant talaq bill and then making sure that it was stalled. The tactic coincided with one of BJP's own allies joining the demand for referring the legislation to a select committee. BJP floor managers feel that if the bill is passed, the party can claim credit for standing by Muslim women. The Congress and the Trinamul Congress moved separate resolutions for parliamentary scrutiny of the bill. The BJP accused the Congress of a flip-flop and hypocrisy after supporting the bill in the Lower House last week.
