So, Brexit will take place in a maximum of two years after the UK government gives formal notification to withdraw. In fact, it could happen sooner, if agreement on the terms of withdrawal can be reached within that time. And there is a not-insignificant chance that the UK might end up leaving the European Union with no agreement. If Brexit does not deliver the promised “sunlit uplands”, their future – as well as that of the young who will support them – looks bleak. Yet despite their dependence on the young, older Brexit supporters have shown an astonishing amount of what I can only describe as nastiness towards younger, Remain-voting people.
