In his quest for spiritual attainment, Rumi once started whirling and went on for 36 hours until he fell on the floor. This is veteran actor Tom Alter at his eloquent best while speaking at an event titled “Poetic Whirl” organised at The Lalit by YFLO Delhi. Alter went on to explain that Rumi’s poetry and dance were inspired by the love for his master Shams Tabrizi. “The minute you say art has a purpose, art is finished. In Mughal-e-Azam they showed Mughals speaking Urdu but actually they spoke Persian.
