Art at bus stops quite the draw - Nation

GEORGE TOWN: The art on the back panels of two bus stops in Penang are attracting attention, especially with Thaipusam on Feb 9. In the illustrations, devotees are seen climbing up the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Hilltop Temple as they carry kavadis during Thaipusam. Pulau Tikus assemblyman Yap Soo Huey said the illustrations at the bus stops were part of a “community stories” project under the “Connecting with Our Heritage” initiative run by her office. She said the illustrations at the other bus stops depicted stories from the Eurasian, Chinese, Malay, Thai and Burmese communities, with two bus stops having the same illustrations of each community. Meanwhile, sculpting work on the 13.71m-high entrance arch at the hilltop temple in Jalan Kebun Bunga is completed.
