The clamor to get rid of longtime manager Arsene Wenger will only get louder after this kind of defeat. The criticism of Wenger by fans grew very visible last season as Arsenal struggled to its worst finish (5th) in the league since 1995-96 -- the year before Wenger took over. For most any Premier League club, Arsenal's record in recent years would be impressive, finishing from second to fifth every year since 2004-05. Changes in the Premier League have made the success of Wenger's early year's unlikely if not impossible. For nine straight seasons starting in 1995-96, either Manchester United or Arsenal won the league.
