Reports claim a transfer is still expected to happen but the Gunners are hoping to get a deal in place to sign a replacement first. Xhaka has won back the hearts of many Arsenal supporters after often being the pantomime villain in the early years of his time at the club. A £13million deal has previously been reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano as being 'very, very advanced'. That was on May 18 but three weeks on, a deal looks no close to being completed.
