Sven Mislintat left the role as Arsenal head of recruitment in February and the club have not yet replaced the German. The transfer guru was a pivotal figure in the club and the buck fell with him on signings, of which there were five last summer. Amid a front office reshuffle sparked by Ivan Gazidis’ departure as chief executive in September, Mislintat grew disgruntled and left his position, which has not yet been filled. Revered recruitment expert Monchi was offered the role but the Spaniard rejoined Sevilla, and Arsenal are still without a clear transfer strategy as the summer window kicks into gear.
