The defending Major League Rugby champions ended the Toronto Arrows’ inaugural season with a heavy thud. The Seattle Seawolves defeated the Arrows 30-17 in their MLR semifinal last night and will travel to face the San Diego Legion in the championship final next Sunday. That try gave the Arrows some life, and Mike Sheppard added a try after intercepting a pass and racing to the line 40 metres untouched. But a penalty try awarded to Seattle after the Arrows illegally brought down a maul, followed by an apparent try by Sheppard nullified by a lineout infraction, ended Toronto’s hopes. The Arrows nonetheless had a satisfactory first season in MLR, finishing with an 11-7 record in the regular season.
