Dildar Ahmed’s son Shafat Ahmed was arrested over charges of raping two university girls at a Banani hotel. Dildar and Azad co-own Apan Jewellers with their brother Gulzar Ahmed. The Customs Intelligence and investigation Division, or CIID, began investigating Apan Jewellers soon after the rape case was filed against Shafat Ahmed last May. The CIID has also accused the Apan Jewellers owners of illegally smuggling in gold, jewellery and diamonds. Customs has seized a significant amount of the assets from Apan Jewellers, which has been unable to provide proper documentation for them.
