Arrest made in fatal stabbing of Raptors fan in Hamilton

A 20-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested in relation to the fatal stabbing of a Raptors fan celebrating Thursday’s game, police said in a news release. Tyquan Brown, 23, was watching Game 1 of the NBA Finals with a group of basketball fans Thursday night outside a Sherman Ave. N. residence when a man showed up armed with a knife around midnight, Hamilton police said over the weekend. The man, who was unhappy that his ex-girlfriend was “socializing with the group of basketball fans,” stabbed Brown within seconds of his arrival, police said. The group chased the man northbound on Sherman Ave. on foot before he got away in a red Volkswagen Jetta, police said. At the same time, Brown wandered southbound in an alleyway north of Barton St. E. and collapsed around 12:30 a.m.
