Army vows swift cleanup at Phu Thap Boek


Cool weather and beautiful scenery have been drawing tourists by the thousands to Phu Thap Boek in recent years. Buildings have sprung up all over Phu Thap Boek, creating the appearance of a modern-day eco-slum on land originally set aside for Hmong hilltribe people. The first targets for demolition are Rong Tiem Resort and Restaurant, San Fan Resort, Kana An 1, Kana An 2, Thub Boek Bhutan, Rai Ta Yai, Ban Sai Mok Resort, Ban Doi Nam Phieng Din, Ing Fah, Sky View, Thub Boek Village, Khieng Dao, Monterio Resort, Ban Chom View, Pracha Resort Phu Thub Boek, Homestay Lung Thai, Thup Boek Indy, Thub Boek Eco Camp and another one with no name. Phu Thap Boek, the highest peak in Phetchabun at 1,768 metres above sea level, includes 47,000 rai of land set aside by authorities in 1966 for the resettlement of Hmong hilltribe people.
