Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Tuesday underscored the importance of neutrality and professionalism in performing election duties ahead of the 13th parliamentary election and referendum, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The army chief visited the army camp at the National Stadium in Gulistan, Dhaka, where he held a coordination meeting in the venue’s conference room with senior military officials, representatives of the Dhaka Metropolitan, divisional and district administrations, and members of various law enforcement agencies. During the meeting, General Waker-Uz-Zaman stressed the need for professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly conduct while carrying out election-related responsibilities. Senior civil administration officials, including the Dhaka divisional commissioner, representatives of law enforcement agencies and members of the media, were also present. The ISPR noted that since January 22, the army chief has been holding similar meetings with senior military officials, civil administration officers from all divisions and districts, and law enforcement representatives to enhance inter-agency coordination for election duties.
