Army chief instructs troops to maintain neutrality during election duties

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has instructed army personnel to maintain neutrality while performing duties during the upcoming national parliamentary election and referendum. He said army members must ensure professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly behavior while carrying out their responsibilities during the election and referendum. The instructions were given on Tuesday while the army chief inspected the activities of troops deployed in Rangpur and Rajshahi, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR). During a meeting held at the Rangpur Circuit House, the army chief exchanged views with senior military officers, officials of the divisional and district administrations, and representatives of various law enforcement agencies. The meetings discussed inter-institutional coordination, overall security planning, and field-level preparedness to ensure that the upcoming election is held in a peaceful, fair, and neutral manner.
