Army builds 7 temporary bridges on Turag River for Ijtema


Temporary floating bridges installed by Bangladesh Army on the Turag River, for the upcoming Bishwa Ijtema 2019, in Tongi ISPRBishwa Ijtema will be held in a single phase from February 15-18Bangladesh Army has installed seven temporary floating bridges—of different lengths—on the Turag River, for the upcoming Bishwa Ijtema 2019, in Tongi. This initiative has been taken to facilitate better transportation for the devoted Muslims who are to attend the world’s second-largest Islamic congregation. The bridges were installed under the supervision of the 14th Independent Engineers Brigade of Bangladesh Army starting on February 4. Previously, on February 5, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah sat with the delegation teams of two feuding Tabligh Jamaat factions to come to a peaceful conclusion for the Ijtema. This meeting was followed by the minister's announcement that this year’s Bishwa Ijtema will be held over four days in a single phase from February 15 to 18; instead of over two three-day phases.
