The Environment Secretary spoke after confirming up to 500 food supply sites, including 170 supermarket depots, will be able to to exempt their workers from isolation if they have contact with a Covid case. Downing Street yesterday insisted "we have a robust and resilient food supply chain in the UK" and urged Brits not to panic. He said: "We’ve taken the right steps now obviously to ensure the food supply chain works. "So they are always there on stand-by should they be needed but they’re not needed at the moment."
