Even as President Trump was in Ohio this week celebrating the rebirth of the nation’s only remaining tank plant, Army budget decisions were dealing a heavy blow to the Keystone State. In York, PA where nearly all the armored vehicles are assembled that are not built at the tank plant, workers learned that two major programs would take a hit. The fallout from Army budget decisions will probably destroy more industrial jobs in Pennsylvania than are being created in Ohio, where the president took a personal interest in restoring the tank industrial base. The company has recently invested tens of millions of dollars on improving the Chinook production line, assuming that upgrades would add 20 years of work to the program’s life.
