Olaleye Aluko, AbujaThe Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said that troops were making efforts to destroy the “unholy union” between the Boko Haram terrorists and the Islamic State West Africa fighters. Buratai said on Monday that the army personnel were being stretched by their involvement in many internal security operations nationwide, particularly in the North-East region. The army chief stated these in Abuja during his opening remarks at a two-day maiden seminar for senior officers focused on career planning and management. Buratai, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Maj Gen Aliyu Nani, said, “The army is making gains in the counter-insurgency operations in the North-East. We are also making strides against the Islamic State West Africa in our bid to unhinge the unholy union between them and the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists.
