The allegations, made by a woman known as Effie, accused Hammer of violently raping her for several hours. Hammer denied the allegations, but the scandal still led to him losing or quitting many acting gigs. Armie Hammer became a well-known actor after his appearance in “The Social Network,” playing the Winklevoss twins. However, the district attorney’s statement did leave open the possibility of charging Hammer if more evidence were to emerge.
