Cordons remain in place in Foxton following reports of gunshots in the small Manawatu town. Armed police and a dog unit descended on the township in the North Island and officers checked properties after residents reported hearing shots fired last night. In a statement this morning, police said a scene examination would be conducted today and part of Cook St had been taped off. "According to the District Command Centre, no one has died and we are not aware of any injuries at this stage." Police urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who had any information to contact Palmerston North Police on (06) 351-3600.
