The incident occurred a few yards away from the Halasuru Gate police station. The victim, Santosh Kumar Khatri, had returned to the city after a business trip to Mumbai and Hyderabad with 2.01 kilograms of gold jewels and ₹4.9 lakh in cash. When Khatri told her he was not interested, three armed men pounced on him and took him inside. He then called Manish Kumar Khatri, owner of the jewellery shop, who lodged a complaint with the police.
