Armed forces want govt to provide uniforms, not 7th Pay Commission-recommended dress allowance

With the government now only paying a fixed amount of money to Army personnel to buy their uniforms against the previous arrangement, where they were provided the dresses, the forces want they should be provided uniforms instead of a cash allowance. As per the Seventh Pay Commission, the government stopped providing uniforms to all ranks and troops. As per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, the government has merged all clothing and other uniform-related allowances in armed forces into one calling it the dress allowance. Earlier, the troops of different services were given separate allowances such as kit maintenance, shoe, robe, robe maintenance and washing. As per the recommendations, soldiers in the armed forces are to be paid Rs 10,000 for buying dresses while officers of the three services are to be paid Rs 20,000 annually.
