"Argentina, 1985" sweeps national film press awards

The successful run of “Argentina, 1985” in international film festivals and award ceremonies continued yesterday at the Argentine film press awards, the Silver Condor Awards. The film directed by Santiago Mitre won 15 awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor, for its lead actor, Ricardo Darín. “Argentina, 1985” was nominated for 20 categories and managed to clinch the vast majority across the board, including Best Fictional Picture, Best Director (Santiago Mitre), Best Actor (Ricardo Darín), Best Supporting Actress (Laura Paredes), Best Script, Costume Design, and Hair and Makeup. The Silver Condor Awards are given by the Argentine Association of Film Reporters, which was founded in 1942 — they’re the longest-running awards in the national industry. All the films that won awards will be screened at the “Week of Silver Condors” from June 8 to 14 at the emblematic Gaumont Cinema in Buenos Aires City.
