Earlier in the day, as representatives struggled to come to an agreement on several points and President Trump continuing to disparage Canada and its trade practices, there were fears that the last-ditch talks to salvage the trade agreement could falter. The U.S. had threatened to move ahead with a bilateral trade pact with just Mexico if an agreement between the three countries could not be reached by Friday.
