Nolan Arenado is assured of receiving the highest salary for a player in arbitration after the Colorado Rockies offered him $24 million. Josh Donaldson set the record last year when he signed for $23 million and avoided arbitration with the Blue Jays. In addition to Arenado, seven other Rockies players were eligible for arbitration and agreed to terms. Last January, the Rockies signed Blackmon to a $14 million contract to avoid arbitration. That became a foundational piece in the six-year, $108 million contract that was finalized in the first week of the regular season.
