The pink patches that many area police departments are wearing are not a brand-new fashion choice, but a way to raise awareness for breast cancer. Police departments throughout MetroWest and Greater Milford are taking part in the Pink Patch Project for October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Since then, the annual movement has raised more than $1 million nationwide for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “This year we chose the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. as our charity,” said Hudson Police Chief Richard DiPersio, in a press release. Pink patches and pink coins will also be for sale.
