Archery: Suresh becomes Malaysia's first-ever para archery world champ

PETALING JAYA: S. Suresh has etched his name in Malaysian sports history by becoming the country's first-ever world para archery champion. On Sunday, the 25-year-old from Kedah completed his fairy tale run in the World Archery Para Championships in Hertogenbosch, Holland by the winning men's recurve gold. Suresh came from behind to beat 2015 world champion Eric Bennett from the United States 7-3 (26-28, 26-26, 27-25, 26-25, 29-27). Suresh's feat is Malaysia's best-ever achievement at a major para archery meet, after Hasihin Nawawi won silver at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. The only other Malaysian to win at the World Archery Para Championships was the late Salam Sidik with a bronze in Turin in 2011.
