Appointment of Kashmir interlocutor will not affect army operations: General Rawat

After Modi government announced its plan to initiate a dialogue between all stakeholders in the Valley to resolve crisis, Army Chief Bipin Rawat today said that appointment of interlocutor for Jammu and Kashmir will not impact army operations in the state. Rawat said that the government is speaking from a position of strength on Kashmir. Former IB chief Dineshwar Sharma has been appointed as the representative of the government to initiate dialogue in the insurgency-hit Kashmir. Over 180 terrorist have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir - much higher than previous years - in counter-terror operations of the security forces this year. The opposition has claimed the fresh move to initiate a dialogue in Jammu and Kashmir shows the governments aggressive policy hasn't worked.
