Applicants of the HK$5,000 "infected subsidy” must sign a declaration

Local citizens infected with the coronavirus needing hospitalization can receive a one-off HK$5,000 subsidy after signing a declaration stating their income was indeed affected by the infection. Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong said authorities are aware of some citizens worrying their income being affected if they are confirmed infected with the coronavirus needing to be treated at hospitals. “In view of the situation, the government will provide a one-off HK$5,000 subsidy to those infected. They will have to sign a declaration stating their income is indeed affected by receiving the treatment at hospitals, not being able to work,” said Law. Taxi drivers, employees receiving daily wage or freelancers can also apply for the subsidy.
