Speaking at the annual China Development Forum in Beijing on Saturday, Cook said that ‘well-crafted’ regulations are need to prevent the misuse of user data. According to Bloomberg , after being asked about the Facebook incident, Cook said: “I think that this certain situation is so dire and has become so large that probably some well-crafted regulation is necessary. This was passed to the secretive Cambridge Analytica firm which played a key role in the US presidential elections and, possibly, the EU referendum .
