Addressing students of Tulane University in New Orleans on Saturday, Cook, 58, implored the graduates to 'consider what we owe one another'. Throughout his speech, which focused on the importance of being 'motivated to build a better world', Cook alluded to the dangers of algorithms used by companies like Facebook that 'promote the things you already know, believe and like'. But in 2019 opening your eyes and seeing things in a new way can be a revolutionary act.' He said: 'Today, certain algorithms pull you toward the things you already know, believe, or like, and they push away everything else.
