The usually sombre environs of Supreme Court halls saw rare applause and demands of castration today when the a three-judge bench upheld the death penalty for the four men convicted in the December 16, 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case. However, before any speculation could gather momentum, Justice Banumathi cleared all the air asking Justice Misra to clarify that she is concurring with the verdict penned by him. The other argument that was rejected by the Supreme Court judges was that the FIR did not mention the name of the convicts.
