ISLAMABAD: An appeal has been filed against the objections raised by the Supreme Court’s registrar on a petition challenging Zulfiqar Bukhari’s appointment as the prime minister’s special assistant. Following Bukhari’s appointment as a special assistant to the prime minister on overseas Pakistanis and human resource development last month, the petitioner had moved the top court against his appointment, stating that Bukhari was a “dual national”. The apex court’s registrar raised objections on the petition, following which the petitioner Adil Chattha said that the “objections on the petition are baseless”. The appeal further requests the court “to reject the objections and hear the petition against Bukhari’s appointment”. Earlier, Bukhari’s appointment was challenged in the SC.
