Appeal dropped in breach of contract case

Northlake Investments Ltd has abandoned its appeal against the High Court’s judgement in the case it took against the Wanaka Medical Centre last year, which was heard in Invercargill. The company, owned by Chris Meehan, lost its breach of contract case relating to a planned healthcare hub, which did not go ahead, in the Northlake subdivision. "The abandonment of Northlake’s appeal brings the proceeding to a final conclusion with all of Northlake’s claims against the doctors having been entirely unsuccessful," Mr Morrison said. Asked for comment, Mr Meehan said for 12 months the company worked "very closely" with the Wanaka doctors, "spending upwards of $500,000 on various consultants", to design a fit-for-purpose medical centre. "It was incredibly disappointing they then walked away from the negotiation without contributing to any of these costs whatsoever."
