Photo / Belinda FeekA Hamilton, his wife and their dog escaped with less than a minute to spare before their central apartment went up in flames. Firefighters were called at 2.18pm and as it was an apartment complex - involving six units - it was upgraded to a second alarm, northern fire and emergency shift manager Colin Underdown said. Wel Networks were also called and at 4pm were still looking to isolate the gas main which was still burning with ferocity.
