New Zealand's soldiers attend an international service marking the 104th anniversary of the WWI battle of Gallipoli at the Turkish memorial in the Gallipoli peninsula in Canakkale, Turkey. The New Zealand Defence Force told RNZ aware of Turkish media reports that the Turkish National Police have arrested an individual who is alleged to be involved in activities designed to disrupt Anzac services at Gallipoli. A spokesperson said planning and preparations for the Anzac commemorations at Gallipoli were continuing. On Wednesday, soldiers from New Zealand, Australia, Turkey and other countries held several services on the peninsula. Although the militant group has not been active in Turkey of late, authorities still carry out routine operations against suspected Islamic State members.
