Anxious wait for Patrick Hoon appeal

A US court has adjourned after hearing an appeal from former SAR government official Patrick Ho Chi-ping over his bribery conviction that saw him sentenced to three years in prison. Ho made his appeal in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals before three judges even though, according to his original sentence, he could be released as early as June. It is still unclear when the results of the appeal will be announced. But the prosecution said: "The court need only decide whether any rational jury, presented with evidence that funds went from a bank in Hong Kong to a US bank, then . to a different bank outside of the United States, could find that funds went 'to' or 'from' the United States."
